BMN - Environmental and Quality Management

Our Client Projects...

The following projects illustrate our approach to the design and implementation of quality management systems and environmental management systems:

National Air Traffic Services (NATS)

NATS provides air traffic control services at 15 of the UK's biggest airports, and "en route" air traffic services for aircraft flying through UK airspace. This year they will handle more than two million flights carrying over 220 million passengers.

BMN Management was engaged to design and implement a quality management system to meet the requirements of ISO9001. To achieve this, it was essential to fully understand the unique culture and structure of the organisation which are driven by its highest priority, namely safety. This priority is supported by a high degree of professionalism and technical excellence of its staff.

The quality management system was designed to support the NATS Directorates in both managing the organisation and supporting the application of a systematic safety management system to all of its operational activities. This formal approach was founded on documented safety policies, safety principles and safety procedures. The system formed the basis for risk assessment, safety assurance, safety control and safety monitoring.

T - Mobile Plc

T-Mobile UK started life as Mercury One2One, a GSM mobile network operated by the now-defunct Mercury Communications. Later known simply as One 2 One, it was the world's first GSM 1800 network when it was launched in September 1993. One 2 One was purchased by Deutsche Telekom in 1999 and rebranded as T-Mobile in 2002.

BMN Management was engaged to design and implement a quality management system to meet the requirements of ISO9001 just prior to launch. This was a challenging project and was conducted against a background of rapid change and tight timescales. The management system needed to be effective in focusing on three crucial areas. Firstly, the immediate need to manage day-to-day operations. Secondly, to support the growth targets for the Company set out in the business plan, and thirdly, to ensure that the management system was able to be effective despite constant changes to the organisation and its management structures.

It was the intention of the Company to introduce the balanced scorecard, and the necessary hooks were built into the quality management system to facilitate this at a later date.

K2 Consultancy Limited

K2 is a progressive and dynamic organisation which thrives on delivering challenging projects for demanding clients. They are a team of experienced project managers and construction professionals who have the capability of delivering projects from £1m to entire programmes of work in excess of £500m.

Their reputation for sound strategic advice and innovative solutions has resulted in them working with a number of the foremost public and private organisations active in the construction and property sector.

BMN Management was asked to design and implement an integrated management system comprising the requirements for quality management systems (ISO9001), environmental management systems (ISO14001) and the Investors in People Scheme. The nature of the organisation meant that the integrated management system needed to be effective while supporting and not hindering innovation and creativity.

In addition, it was important to ensure that the requirements of the three standards were able to be met and the benefits of each accrued while reaping the benefits of an integrated management system (PAS99). With the management system established, K2 Consultancy has a platform from which to continually improve, maintain profitability while reducing environmental impact and ensure that this is achieved via an investment in its people.

The capability of our people and your people is what really matters
